Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends,

With more than 1000 delegates, EUPSA is already the largest pediatric surgical scientific association in the world. Since the first meeting in Graz, our congresses became increasingly successful and this is confirmed year after year. The fact that more than 500 delegates from all continents attended the Turin Congress allows the most optimistic expectations for 2008.

The congress will be held on June 18th to 21st 2008 in the mesmerizing city of Istanbul where the European and Asian continents meet. The local Organizing Committee choose a very convenient venue and prepared an exciting program. The weather in June will certainly enhance the social aspects of the gathering.

We are certain that Istanbul will attract a large number of delegates and we invite them to bring along their families. There is no better opportunity to get acquainted with one of the top touristic cities in the world!

Dear Friends and Guests, welcome to Istanbul.

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all participants of the EUPSA Meeting 2008. Istanbul is a bridge between two continents: Europe and Asia. In this eternal city, for more than 2500 years, East and West met each other and formed a melting pot for races, different cultures and religions.

It is timely for this meeting to take place in Turkey, a country with a long tradition of pediatric surgery; nearly 400 trained pediatric surgeons of whom approximately 100 are UEMS Board certified. Two of our institutions (your host Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty of Istanbul and Hacettepe Medical Faculty of Ankara) were certified as training centers by UEMS in 2005.

As you may already know, Istanbul is the European Capital of Culture for the year 2010. Today, it not only fosters the relics such as mosques, churches, palaces, museums, baths and cisterns, but is also a vibrant city with its restaurants, cafes, nightlife and cultural activities. June is the month for the traditional Istanbul Festival for more than 30 years. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy world reknowned orchestras, musicians and artists. Thus, we especially advise that you bring along your spouses and children, as this meeting will be an extraordinary experience for them as well.
