Abstract submission is closed. The deadline for abstract submission was on
January 20th 2010

Abstracts, submitted by post, fax or mail cannot be accepted.

Guidelines and Rules for Abstract Submission:
Abstracts must be submitted using the online system. The official language is English. You will automatically receive notification of receipt by email. An abstract may be submitted to one section only. Do not double-submit by altering the title, and resubmitting to a second section.
Each abstract is given a unique number which should be used in all correspondence. Pictures, figures and graphs can be included in your abstract as long as it does not exceed the required length of the template. Once you have logged on to the system, you will be able to amend your submitted abstract up to the deadline date; there is no need to submit again.
Authors whose abstracts are accepted for presentation will be expected to attend the meeting and make their presentation. Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstract will be emailed by the 15th February 2010. Authors of abstracts accepted for presentation at the meeting may submit manuscripts for consideration for publication in the European Journal of Paediatric Surgery.
Young Investigator Prize Session:
The EUPSA “Young Investigator Award” has been made to stimulate research in Paediatric Surgery. You may enter any paper for this session as long as the presenter is a trainee. Whilst a manuscript does not have to be submitted to the European Journal of Pediatric Surgery for papers in this session, the content of the presentation should still fulfil the criteria for all abstracts submitted for this conference. Please see the section on eligibility. Papers for the Prize session are selected on the basis that they are the highest scoring papers submitted to the Congress.
This means that there is no restriction on content. The marking criteria for scorers are the same as that for other papers. However the judging criteria when the papers are presented are:
- Originality 0-5
- Scientific Value 0-5
- Clinical value 0-5
- Quality of presentation 0-5
- Overall Impression 0-5

ELIGIBILITY: Abstracts should only be submitted if they or their main content have not been previously accepted for publication, published or presented at a national or international meeting prior to the commencement of the EUPSA Congress. If in doubt, please make a declaration on the abstract form for the committee to make a decision. Submitting abstracts without declaring that they have been previously presented will mean that the senior author of the paper will be banned from submitting further abstracts to EUPSA for the subsequent two years.
ETHICS: Evidence of ethical approval must be included in all abstracts involving animal or human studies.
PUBLICATION: The European Journal of Paediatric Surgery will normally have first choice for publication for those abstracts which have been presented orally at the Congress (except those submitted for the Young Investigator Prize session).
Authors of accepted abstracts will be expected to submit manuscripts for consideration by the relevant Publication Committee, which decides which manuscripts are accepted for publication in the Congress issue of the Journal.
